Belfast Zoo – The majority of animals in Belfast Zoo are in danger in their natural habitat.

The Zoo carries out important conversation work and takes part in over 90 European and International breeding programmes which help to ensure the survival of many species under threat. Cinema – Many cinemas across the province offer “Autism Friendly Screenings” Please contact your local cinema for further information. Children over 8 can apply for a CEA card which entitles a carer to gain free entry into the cinema (Please see CEA card)

Downpatrick & County Down Railway, Downpatrick – Travel back to the past with real vintage steam trains to Inch Abbey and King Magnus Grave, on Ireland’s only full sized heritage railway. The Downpatrick and County Down Railway runs through the drumlin countryside of Co Down, St Patricks Country – over the river Quoile and under the graceful Down Cathedral to the peaceful ruins of Inch Abbey. Grand Opera House – The Grand Opera House Belfast offers relaxed performances where during the show the theatre lights will stay on, the theatre doors will stay open, you can leave the theatre and come back in again, there will not be any loud bang, there will be a quiet room available & you can talk & don’t have to be quiet. Lisburn Leisureplex – Offer a “Buddy Card” which entitles a carer to gain free entry & priority queuing eg. for swimming. You can gain an application form from reception. Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark, Florence Court, Enniskillen – Marble Arch Caves is now one of 120 UNESCO sites across the globe and is the second of only two UNESCO designated sites in Northern Ireland. The status is awarded in recognition of an area’s internationally important rocks & landscapes and how they are used for sustainable tourism. It is fully accessible for wheelchairs & prams. Children under 2 are free. They also offer an admission discount for midweek Monday – Friday.

National Trust – We enjoy welcoming everyone to the places we look after and we are working hard to make sure those with disabilities have a good experience. The National Trust offers an access for all “Essential Carer’s Card” which entitles 2 carers to gain free entry at any National Trust Site while the normal membership, or admission fee, applies to the disabled visitor. The card will be issued in the disabled persons name & it doesn’t have to be the same carer’s everytime. However don’t worry if you don’t have the Essential Carer’s Card” it just makes it quicker & simpler for you. You can bring proof of your  disability in the form of DLA/ PIP award or Carers Allowance award. Email enquiries@nationaltrust.org.uk
